3.5-Hour Sightseeing Cruise: Spandau to the City Centre
A long, unhurried 3.5-hour cruise from Spandau through the Charlottenburg lock to the historic centre, passing Charlottenburg Palace, Bellevue and the government quarter with live commentary.

This 3.5-hour Spree sightseeing cruise is for travellers who’d happily spend a whole afternoon on the water. Starting out west in Spandau, it works east through the Charlottenburg lock and into the historic centre, covering far more ground — and far more of Berlin’s story — than the standard one-hour loop.
At around €29 for three and a half hours, it’s also excellent value if a long, scenic cruise is exactly what you’re after.
What makes this cruise special
The length is the whole point. Where most boats do a quick central circuit, this one gives you a genuine half-day afloat, linking the leafy west of the city to the grand centre. You pass Charlottenburg Palace, cruise the Charlottenburg lock (a small adventure in itself as the water level changes), and take in Bellevue Palace, the Hansaviertel and the full government quarter. There’s a toilet on board and live commentary throughout, so you stay comfortable and informed for the duration.
What to expect on board
From the Spandau (Lindenufer) pier you head east up the Spree, passing through the lock and by the baroque splendour of Charlottenburg Palace. The route continues through the Hansaviertel, past the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Bellevue Palace — home of the Federal President — and Moabiter Werder, before reaching the Spreebogen with the Chancellery, Central Station and the Reichstag. Then it’s the return leg, giving you a second look at the highlights from the opposite bank.
Who should book it
This cruise is made for slow travellers, cruise fans and anyone who finds an hour simply isn’t enough. It’s also a good pick on a fine day when you want to be outdoors and moving without a packed itinerary. If you’re short on time, the 1-hour city loop covers the essentials; for the full spread, see our sightseeing cruise guide.
Prices and what’s included
Fares start from about €29 and include the 3.5-hour cruise, live commentary and an on-board toilet. Transport to and from the meeting point isn’t included. Prices are “from” rates with a capture date, confirmed live at booking.
Best time to go
A long cruise rewards a clear, mild day, so late spring through early autumn is ideal. Because it starts in the west and finishes in the centre, allow time at both ends of your day. Midsummer afternoons can be warm on deck — bring sun cover and water.
Getting to the pier
The cruise departs from Spandau (Lindenufer) in the west of Berlin. It’s reachable by S-Bahn and U-Bahn to Spandau followed by a short walk; factor the journey into your plans, as it’s further out than the central piers.
Insider tips
Pack a snack and a drink for the journey, and settle in — this is a cruise to savour, not rush. Keep your camera handy for the lock and Charlottenburg Palace, two sights you won’t get on the short loops. Compare durations and prices with every other cruise in our all tours section.
